Charlottesville, Virginia, Wine Enthusiast’s 2023 Wine Region of the Year, boasts dozens of wineries that cultivate intriguing grape varietals, and innovative winemakers who coax the fruit into celebrated libations. African Americans have played a role in Virginia winemaking for centuries, and also in the recent ascent of the Monticello American Viticultural Area (AVA). Join us in the foothills and ridges of the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains to drink in history, tour Central Virginia vineyards, meet Black wine professionals, and learn about the collaborative wine incubators which foster the creativity of emerging winemakers.
